Julie has lived and worked all over the globe including New York, San Francisco and Tokyo. This summer she begins filming Varmint with Great Dane Productions.
Julie grew up performing in over 20 productions at Casa Mañana Theatre in Texas and then spent her last two years of high school as a theatre major at Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan where she was constantly inspired by world-class performers in dance, music and art.
After graduating from Interlochen, she went to Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts in London, England and then graduated from The American Musical and Dramatic Academy in NYC. After graduating from AMDA, she immediately joined the award winning National Tour of Halfway There playing the role of Mandy, performing as a street junkie for more than six months all along the East Coast. When she returned to NYC, she taught circus gymnastics and worked at a yummy chocolate shop between small acting gigs before landing the role of Liesl in the US National Tour of The Sound of Music for over a year. She then played Liesl again in the Asian Tour of The Sound of Music with Marie Osmond performing throughout Korea, Singapore, Bangkok and Hong Kong. After finishing the tour and settling back down in the Lower East Side of NYC, she continued studying the craft with Terry Schreiber for several years and at The School for Film and Television. She also enjoyed studying African dance and Kathak dance (classical Indian dance) when she wasn’t working one of her many unusual jobs ranging from teaching kids (and pro rodeo cowboys!) how to rope a jalapeno to being hired as a photographer at rock concerts. Julie also had the wonderful opportunity of working as a casting assistant with Adrienne Stern Casting in NYC.
After 12 years in NYC, she and her family moved to Colorado Springs where she played Shelby in Steel Magnolias with the Fine Arts Center Theatre Company at the SaGaJi Theatre. The following winter she played Sunny in The Last Night of Ballyhoo with the Fine Arts Center Theatre Company and Meredith in Five Women Wearing the Same Dress with The Star Bar Players. She enjoyed performing in the Women’s Playwriting Festival two years in a row at The Manitou Art Theatre as well. She was Sister James in Doubt and Roxane in Cyrano de Bergerac at THEATREWORKS. Julie is a proud founding member of Springs Ensemble Theatre https://springsensembletheatre.org. After living in Colorado for six years, she moved to Anchorage, Alaska where she played the role of Artie in Eleemosynary with Cyranos Theatre Company.
While living in Tokyo, she played Stevie in Edward Albee’s The Goat, or Who is Sylvia? with Neptune Theatre and TIP Second Stage as well as Veronica in God of Carnage with Black Stripe Theater. She was last seen in The Two Gentlemen of Verona, Speaking in Tongues and as Lady Macbeth in Macbeth with Tokyo International Players at Theater Sun Mall in Shinjuku, Tokyo, Japan.
She worked for 2 years in San Francisco as the voice of all 144 meditations in the Lumosity Mind app available on the App Store for iPhone and iPad before moving back to Colorado Springs a few years ago.
Upon returning to Colorado Springs, she rejoined Springs Ensemble Theatre and was thrilled to see the company still thriving and has since been in Life Sucks and most recently Annapurna. She also played Isabeau of Bavaria in the short film by Sarah Lotfi called Knight to Queen.
She was named The Gazette Best of the Springs 2007 winner for Best Actress. She was delighted to be nominated for Best Actress at the 7th Annual Pikes Peak Arts Council Awards for Excellence in the Arts. Julie was also honored to receive the Curtain Call Award in Tokyo, Japan for her work with Tokyo International Players.
